There is no better place to start your Mac-based scripture study than the Church's own on-line scriptures. The complete standard works are available on-line, complete with all of the cross references contained in the printed standard works.
A particularly helpful link is the "Gude to the Scriptures". It provides an alphabetical listing of gospel topics, as well as defines selected doctrines, principles, people, and places found in all of the standard works of the Church. It also provides key scriptural references for each topic Each entry gives a short definition of the topic and provides the most significant scriptural references about that topic.
Just as in the standard works of the Church, you will also find the Bible Dictionary, Topical Guide (Bible), and Index (Triple Combination). Selections of the Joseph Smith translation, as well as maps and photographs of bible and of Church History are also present.
